At the age of six Emilee decided to make her best friend a dress for her birthday. With the careful attention to detail that only a six year old could muster she hand-sewed a tiny party dress and delightfully surprised her friend with the gift. Little did she know that this would be the start of passionate career. It just so happens that this same year Emilee also began ballet class. Twenty two years later she’s found a way to bring these two passions together.

Emilee’s inspiration for creation comes from her grandmother Mimi. Lucky for her, her mother also carried the creative gene. As a child she was always making art in many different forms. Guided by her mother and grandmother’s careful eyes she learned how to bring imagination to life.

All throughout her childhood and teenage years Emilee attended art classes at school. She spent everyday after school in the dance studio. Like many young girls Emilee dreamed of becoming a dancer. She performed in countless “ Nutcrackers” and other ballets (her mother made her costumes) and in high school, naturally, she enrolled in the drama club. At this point she had the opportunity to assist in costume designing of her own. She also spent many nights with her family watching the beautiful Ballroom dancers on PBS never realizing that she would someday have the chance to do this too.

After high school Emilee decided to quit dance and go to college. Of course, Fashion Design was the only thing she wanted to study. She enrolled in the International Academy of Design and Technology (formerly IAMD). After completing her Associates Degree it was time to return to the ballet barre. She had missed it too much!

One day she came across an advertisement in a studio for a job as a dance teacher. This was the beginning of a new passion! Ballroom Dance!

Today Emilee is still bringing imagination to life in the form of dance and dance apparel. With eight years of experience in designing and constructing Ballroom and Latin dresses she brings to you her new line of costumes, Mimi G. Emilee is still guided spiritually by her grandmother, Mimi, and the G stands for Grandparents, as they also guide her spiritually through every step in her life. This is just the beginning of an incredible showing of passion and creativity.
